Performance Art
I definitely enjoyed this section on performance art. Although I didn't record my own i was apart of a performance art piece. In the piece I participated in, Logan Jones and I had to walk down the street and be normal on the sidewalk and as soon as we cross the street we raise hell in the middle of the street. We basically put on a show for everyone in their car's at the red lights. Everytime we got on the street we pushed each other around and yelled "FUCK YOU" as loud as we could and tryied to convince everyone on the road that we were brawling and to also confuse them. It was confusing because when we got back on the sidewalk we instantly became friends again then we repeated the process. While performing this piece, we had several people stop and tell us to knock it off and to stop fighting. Apparently it worked. I was so exited and it was a very bold and gutsy move and way out of my character. Afterwards we had to alert the people that is was acting and please don't call the police! It was great though and the people watching it afterwards thought we did a good job. It was very clever and its unique because you don't think performance arts has a meaning but you shortly learn that there's a hidden message in every video.

Iconography
I think the restroom sign is an effective example of iconography. When you look at the obvious facts, it is to distinguish the restrooms as boy or girls. It is shaped in a way to show gender by rendering the female waist to appear as a dress. Its very interesting and its actually very helpful and benefical in todays Society. Its nothing more than a black and white simply put male and female.I think iconography is cool and its cool trying to figure out some of them and to see if it is tied to a story.

Newseum
I think the idea of expanding the space of a museum is a great idea. It opens up opportunites to display much more art work and to increase the amount of people that visit the museum. Of course in this situation there is always pro's and con's in the idea of a new museum. One problem with the idea that is frequently agreed with is the fact that bigger crowds of people bring a lot more noise. Which could eventually push people away. A pro would be it would attract several tourist and boost the number of attendance. I also think that the idea of developing an online museum website. It is good for people who don't have the time to visit the museum or who lives in different states. Some people may argue that by visiting the website isn't the full experience but I think it will be set up so you can still see everything and stil enjoy it. After reading both articles, the idea of expansion works out very nicely for both the museum and the crowd overall. The very nice structure that will be built will also be a good way to attract many more visitors.
Me personally, I think I would enjoy the whole experience. I don't think the volume of a museum will effect my experience. I love to visit museums and I would be very attracted to the new museum. Its also good because I attend school in DC and it would be very easy to go and visit the museum. I would also visit the website just to see if it is close to the same experience.I have a strong love for art and love to learn so I actually can't wait for the museum to open.

Duchamp
In this article, "The bride Stripped Bare" it is talking about the large glass piece created by Duchamp that is currently located in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. If you ask my personal opinion, I could tell you what the piece was about without knowing the subject. Apparently at the top part of the pieceis the bride and the bottom is the groom. In the article Duchamp says that the piecesexual aspect and duchamp referred to it as a "hilarious" picture. The piece is very large, standing about nine feet tall and five feet wide. There are plenty weird and misunderstood aspects behind this piece. To hear Duchamp tell it, its a whole story surrounding this piece. In his descriptionof the piece he is saying that the bride is undressing and trying to reach a point of nudity and the bachelor is trying to undress the bride. I guess the flowing piece is suppose to represent the brides dress. I can't seem to tell how thats a bride or the bachelor at the bottom. The figures are extremely abstract and hard to resemble. However, on the other hand the piece is very neat and looks like a lot of effort was put into making it. The piece is nice but can be a little confusing when it comes to the subject matter. I think he makes good art but he's very unpredictable and you never know what he's thinking.

Patterns
After researching patterns I've learned that a pattern is a form, template, or model which can be used to make or genereate things or parts of a thing. Most patterns are more abstractly or a set of rules. Patterns are also repeated shapes or objects and referred to as elements of the series. Patterns are can be very symmetrical and can be very decorative using stripes, zig-zags, and polka dots. Patterns can be recognized in many fields including psychology, ethology, Computer Science, Golden Ratio, Art, Science and Mathematics. Patterns can be seen in religious and cultural societies. In mathematics and geometry patterns are generally used to describe shapes and geometric patterns. One common way that patterns are used in science can be The DNA strand, describing chromosomes, and electromagnetic currents. Patterns are very commonly used in society and can be used in so many ways. The part the I enjoyed the most in researching is that when you think patterns, you think artistic or mathematically but you'll learn that patterns are used in just about everything. A good pattern quotation by R. Buckminster Fuller is "A pattern has an integrity independent of the medium by virtue of which you have recieved the information that it exists. Each of the chemical elements is a pattern integrity. Each individual is a pattern integrity. The pattern integrity of the human individual is evolutionary and not static." Another is "Art is the imposing of a pattern on experience, and our aesthetic enjoyment is recognition of the pattern." -Alfred North Whitehead.

Composition
My experience with making this value scale was a little difficult starting off. I had a little difficult time with some of the swatches. I didn't want the swatches to look the same or look unbalanced so i went over the whole thing a couple of times. After i fixed everything and got comfortable with it I felt much better and felt like i did a good job. I added some shaing on the outside to make the image pop out a little and I think it looks pretty cool too.

What is Value?
In my own opinion, value is years of hard work or someones worth. The chart makes good sense when you think about it because any successful artist or artist looking to be successful promote themselves and automatically falls under the chart. Unless you aren't trying to make business with your art and you don't want to live off it then you definitely fall under the catagory. I think that the harder you work and display determination it will help you to grow as an artist and business wise. I also feel that the more you put your work out there the higher in value you will become. Value in terms of art in the business word is building art and selling it over a long period of time to be worth something just like a important baseball card or an autograph from someone famous. Value will follow you your whole career and gives you a very good look as an artist. Most of the artist who have made names for them selves have put themselves and have grown in value over the years from selling art and making ver good pieces of work. That is basically how you can interpret value as it relates to Art.

Line or Shape Assignnment
When you look closely at the images, i would say that image b and d are lines. A and D are shapes. I think that they are lines because they don't it only has two points to it and a lines is a long band or line. A and D are shapes simply because they are actual shapes. The narrow triangle would be confusing to the eye because it stretched out and narrow. What makes a shape is when all the lines meet to form a shape. What makes a line is when ther is only two points with a start and a finish. The images are good at decieving the eye so its very confusing to tell whats what.
String Project
I think the experience with the lines and shapes exercise was pretty cool and very interesting. I also enjoyed the the string project also. I thought it was interesting because it took something as simple as string to show us how we can made up lines and shapes to understand the lecture better. I actually wouldn't have done anything differently because you get to utilize the classroom space to put the structure together. My first impression was that i was a little confused on the assignment at first, but after we started a quickly became aware of the project and a thought it was pretty cool. It was interesting also to try to navigate your way through all the string. It was extra interesting trying to untangle it also.

Critique Assignment
In critiquing this piece I can say that this piece is very vibrant and colorful. It seems that the colorful objects are used to symbolize people. The artist used an abstract concept in developing this piece. The artist used mainly primary colors and very few secondary colors. The also used black and white for a majority of the figures. Some of the objects show a small deal of gradience to add a little form in some objects. Also the piece uses shapes to represent different thing, for example, outside the window the triangle and red swirl are used to represent trees. The walls also give off a sense of value and a rough feel to it almost like sand paper. All of the objects in this piece appear to be floating and doesn't have any foreground. Looking at the figure in the air, they look to be casting wall shadows if you lok closely. Judging by the look of the shapes on the floor and in the air, it appears that they're animals. Overall I think the piece is very unique and in it's own way can tell a story. This is a piece I definitely would own.
